R.L. STINE

R.L. Stine, aka Robert Lawrence Stine

BORN : OCTOBER 8, 1943

POSITION : AUTHOR OF THE SUPERNATURALLY POPULAR GOOSEBUMP SERIES

The "Stephen King of children's literature", R.L. Stine, aka Robert Lawrence Stine, is the prolific writer behind the second best-selling children's series of all time.

(If only he’d chosen a different set of initials, like J.K.)  Stine has sold over 400 million books worldwide, with 62 books in the original Goosebumps series, and the various spin-offs and off-shoots bringing the total to a whopping 235.

Stine grew up in Bexley, Ohio, the son of Anne Feinstein and Lewis Stine, a shipping clerk.  When he was nine years old, R.L. came across a typewriter in the attic, and began to type stories and joke books.  The rest is history, fostering children’s reading with the always addictive allure of the scary story.  Lots of scary stories.
